Resume Writing and Job Interview Skills Workshop - Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 - 5:30pm to 8pm

5th Annual Knowledge Bowl Competition 2014 at the South Eleuthera Mission, among all 5 primary schools in South Eleuthera. Winner: Green Castle Primary School!!

The 5th Annual 2014 Knowledge Bowl Competition held at The South Eleuthera Mission March 3rd to 6th, 2014 was completed yesterday.

Day 1 of the competition on March 3rd 2014,  saw Tarpum Bay Primary School, the 3-time returning champion playing against Wemyss Bight Primary School. Wemyss Bight Primary School won with a score of 14,250 to 12,250 points for Tarpum Bay Primary.

Day 2 saw the return of Wemyss Bight Primary School, who played against Green Castle Primary School. Green Castle Primary School, securing their spot in the championship game to be played on day 4,  walked away the winners for day 2, with a score of 15,450 to 12,800 for Wemyss Bight.

Deep Creek Primary played against Rock Sound Primary on Day 3, with Rock Sound winning with a score of 15,350 to 9,700 points for Deep Creek Primary. Rock Sound Primary returned to play in the Championship game against Green Castle Primary on day 4.

Day 4 of the Competition, saw a heated Championship game, played between Green Castle Primary and Rock Sound Primary. It was a very close game all the way through, with Rock Sound Primary having a leading edge right up until the end of round 4. During round 5, the bonus round, which had 10 challenging questions for high point values of 1,000 and 1,500 points each, saw Green Castle Primary actively answering the questions, which secured them a very close win, with a score of 17,800 over Rock Sound, who ended with a score of 17,400.

Mrs Eureka Sands, Manager of Princess Cays, who voluntarily donated the winning trophy, was on hand to present the winners with their trophy and a $250 gift certificate for the school to purchase school supplies. Mr Ronald Horton, Chairman of the South Eleuthera Mission was also on hand, and presented both team members with medals for their outstanding performances.

The South Eleuthera Mission wishes to extend a hearty Congratulations to Green Castle Primary School and for all remaining four schools and their students who were selected to participate in the 2014 South Eleuthera Mission's Knowledge Bowl Competition.

We also extend a special "Thank You" to The Lyford Cay Foundation who provided through a grant, equipment necessary for the Knowledge Bowl competition to take place.

Jewelry Making Workshop - 2 sessions (February 25th and 27th and March 4th and 6th, 2014) 30 Participants

Two successful sessions of the jewelry making workshops at the South Eleuthera Mission were held in late February and early March, 2014.

There were 18 participants in the first session and 12 participants in the March session, for a total of 30 persons who came out to learn this new skill.

Everyone involved were successful in making a set of jewelry, comprising of a necklace, earrings and bracelet, crafted using beads and native conch shell bits.

We wish to thank Mrs Merionette Hall and her daughter, Mrs Kayla Ferguson, who co-facilitated the workshop.
